Dew Drops, Reposted (aka – Lessons Learned in Database Backups)

FAIL

Howdy, folks. As some of you who follow me on Twitter already know, one of my web host’s MySql database servers crashed yesterday afternoon. It happened to be the server hosting this blog’s database. They finally got it back up today, but I guess they don’t perform daily backups because I’m missing three days of data.

I have re-posted the three missing Dew Drop posts, so if you’re seeing duplicates in your RSS reader, that is the reason. Thanks to Dave Ward for suggesting the WP-DBManager plug-in to handle WordPress backups. I’ll be installing and configuring that tonight.

The moral of the story is… don’t count on somebody else to backup your data, even if you thought you were paying them to do so.

Dew Drop – October 11, 2008

Would love to be at Philly .NET Code Camp this morning, but Stelene is working this weekend, and I don’t think my girls are old enough to grasp TDD. We need to move closer to babysitters family.
